The strongest safety programs safeguard more than just at-risk employees. They are based on a foundation of innovation that is reinforced by technology, and they continuously produce value across a business.
Thanks to CEO Cameron Barrett’s leadership, the Field Safe team has built a culture of innovation that supports our position as the market leader in health and safety technologies. Our clients benefit from our culture by saving time, money, and lives.
Over his 25-year career, Cameron held sales leadership roles with industry-leading technology businesses, including President of Computer Sciences Canada. Cameron graduated from Heriot-Watt University with an MBA, Abraham Lincoln University with an MSc in Law, and the Rotman School of Business with an ICD.D certification. He is now the Chair of the Huntington Society of Canada’s Governance and Nominating Committee. Cameron is passionate about volunteering his time to assist meaningful organizations and is dedicated to making a difference.
Field Safe allows for real-time data transfer from the field in order to safeguard at-risk personnel and improve operational efficiency. We help companies save time, save money, and save lives.
Another passion of Cameron’s is the continuous creation of value. Cameron feels that this will ensure Field Safe’s success, as well as the increased health and safety of our clients’ at-risk workforce. To build value, he follows two principles.
Guiding Principle #1: Creating Value Starts with People
Cameron says, “To build a great company, you must surround yourself with great people who share your passion.” Since taking the helm in 2018, he has assembled a team that has converted Field Safe into an industry leader, maintaining excellent growth despite the global pandemic’s economic uncertainties and the hurdles of starting a new business. He attributes his success to his employees, clients, partners, and outstanding board of directors and advisory board members.
Doug Junor, Director of Innovation and Strategic Partnerships at Field Safe, is an excellent example. Cameron is so confident in the impact of innovation and partnerships on our capacity to create value that he created a position under Doug’s leadership to focus on these areas.
Doug explains, “At Field Safe, we understand that “the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.” Our approach to innovation means that by forging strategic partnerships with like-minded companies with complementary products and services, we will build better solutions for our clients and create more value. This will benefit us, our partners, and our clients.”
Strategic relationships with prominent and well-respected partners and numerous Fortune 1000 clients have set Field Safe apart from the competition.
Kyndryl, a Field Safe partner, is the world’s leading provider of IT infrastructure services. They apply their managed services expertise to harness and analyze data collected by Field Safe to improve operational performance and foster worker safety for their clients. Field Safe and Kyndryl are continuing to look for ways to work together to offer value to businesses.
Another noteworthy endeavor is Field Safe’s Innovation Cohort with one of the world’s top wearables providers. By merging Field Safe software and wearables devices, this effort will address key operational, health, and safety challenges. Biometric and topographical information, decibel levels, and environmental data are all collected by wearables. Combining this data within the context of the work performed and health and safety requirements will create meaningful innovations for worker safety and greater operational efficiency. Numerous well-known firms have committed to the Innovation Cohort, and the company has issued invitations to several more. Field Safe is enthusiastic about the possibilities since the information gathered during these sessions will help all of the company’s clients.
Guiding Principle #2: Digital Transformation of the At-Risk Worker Will Improve Safety and Create More Efficient Operations
Cameron believes that using technologies like Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to digitally transform health and safety will create a significant opportunity to affect and enhance our technology and, ultimately, worker safety. That is why he ensures that everything Field Safe does is innovative. Field Safe is effectively moving its clients closer to their goal of zero incidents by cultivating a mindset among its employees that results in best-in-class technology.
Innovations Fueling Worker Safety and Operational Efficiency
We’re seeing a lot of the Internet of Behavior (IoB) trend in EHS initiatives, where data is used with change management to guide human behavior.
As well, clients are using Field Safe’s real-time access to EHS data to satisfy ESG and green goals, avoid fines for regulatory non-compliance, reduce insurance costs, and even win more business.
The integration of wearables technology into Field Safe’s health and safety solution will allow it to augment reality and manipulate data to speed up the identification of an incident, respond to it, and even prevent the incident from occurring in the first place. The result? Fewer incidents, safer workers, and lower costs.
Creating Value for Clients
Field Safe’s work with the operator of Canada’s largest construction site exemplifies how we deliver value to clients. The operator first approached us to help “create the safest worksite on earth.” Field Safe’s client has observed a substantial reduction in safety incidents and an increase in safety culture after just two years of use. According to their calculations, the project will save $65 million during its 5-year lifespan.
This savings is 5 to 6 times the cost of their investment in Field Safe.
Looking Forward
Cameron’s advice to someone who wants to be a leader is straightforward. By surrounding yourself with a great team, you create value for your clients, team, and community.
Field Safe will maintain its market-leading position by fostering a culture of innovation. The executive team is looking forward to growing its current team and adding new members to strengthen the bench. This emphasis on people and technology, as well as the projects the firm is pursuing with its partners, provides further chances to deliver value and assist customers save time, save money, and save lives.
