The Motivation to Launch MarkiTech.AI
Nauman Jaffar is a passionate & serial entrepreneur with a background in technology marketing and digital transformation. He has an engineering degree as well as an MBA from LUMS and York University and has worked for organizations such as TELUS, PwC, Shell, and Siemens in four different continents as a leader of change.
During his career, he was responsible for new product development, management, and take-to-market in the Mobility, IoT, Big Data, Fixed Mobile Convergence, Security, and Digital areas inside a $1.5 billion business/enterprise segment. His eagerness to assist in the commercialization of technology goods in the B2B/SME arena makes him passionate about technology. His passion lies in harnessing the latest digital and technological trends to improve people’s lives, and corporate productivity, cut costs and prevent risk.
His personal experiences have also fuelled his ambition. Countless avoidable healthcare situations, such as his dear aunt’s misdiagnosis, his son’s wandering, and his father’s avoidable fall episodes going undetected, have inspired him to use his background in technology and business and marry that with his zeal and passion to make a difference in digital healthcare. His personal experiences and vision inspired him to start his businesses and projects. Nauman established 6+ healthcare, telco, consulting, and SaaS firms in the previous years and has overseen 50+ healthcare AI and IT projects in his entrepreneurial and corporate experience. His most recent digital health start-ups as a founder include YourDoctorsOnline, MarkiTech.AI, SenSights.AI, Safe2Work, and, his latest startup Veyetals.com to name a few.
MarkiTech.AI
MarkiTech is an AI-focused company with deep expertise in the Telco and Healthcare verticals that assists innovators and business decision-makers in developing and commercializing their technological products and ideas. It uses emerging technologies like AI, 5G, and IoT to promote innovation, accelerate corporate performance, and increase operational efficiencies. The company started its operations in 2015 when Nauman left the corporate world. Its annual revenue has increased from $0 in 2015/16 to $5 million in 2021/22. In B2B settings, the majority of the solutions and platforms are aimed at seniors, older adults, and community care. It also offers RPM services with additional features. Subsidiaries
Veyetals and SenSights.AI are the two MarkiTech subsidiary firms. Veyetals is an app that uses a smartphone camera to measure vital signs (heart rate, heart rate variability, oxygen saturation, mental stress level, and blood pressure) in 30 seconds with 90-95 percent accuracy instead of bulky, expensive instruments. SenSights.AI is a contactless remote patient monitoring and passive fall detection system for older people that helps to prevent isolation and undiscovered falls, and monitor vital signs without the need for wearables. This innovative RPM & Telemedicine technology uses falls, vital signs, daily notes, medication effects, feelings, and behavior to analyze and suggest virtual treatments depending on risk levels.
The Face of MarkiTech.AI
Nauman believes that IT has a bright future; it is a rapidly changing business with several prospects, and he has always wanted to be a part of it. Following his route to success, he oversees end-to-end operations, responsible for every aspect of the company.
“I manage end-to-end financials, strategy, and day-to-day operations, escalations, and product roadmap plans with my partners. I am responsible for the culture of the team, direction, growth, and strategy. I am the face of the company. We must succeed for the sake of my extended family i.e, our illustrious team and we continue to learn and grow” says Nauman.
Being a Founder and CEO of a start-up comes with numerous challenges and failures, some of which are failing to keep a focus on a single priority for example or taking on an excessive amount of responsibility and projects, and identifying the correct people for the appropriate jobs. Raising funds and investment has been an uphill climb with many learnings. These failures and learnings have been invaluable and allowed Nauman to be better prepared to hire smarter and more resolute team members and by focusing on the right projects that align with MarkiTech’s products, services, and platforms. Obstacles come every day, but perseverance is a badge that Nauman wears, pulling him and his company to never give up.
Success is Multi-faceted
Nauman feels satisfied that he didn’t give up on a vision and mission that ultimately made a
difference by improving people’s lives (mostly seniors and older adults in our case) with the skill set (tech skills and business acumen) that he had worked hard to achieve and that continues to improve the quality of life around him.
He states, “I would be most grateful if I could help make a small positive difference in a human being’s life and help others start their entrepreneurial journey and see success in them, especially those that have been part of this journey with me.”
Nauman advises the upcoming leaders to never give up on their passion. It takes a lot of effort, tenacity, and time to achieve something big. He also suggested having the right mindset (suggests reading “The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle ) and attitude because the entrepreneurial path is not a simple one.
“Entrepreneurship is a roller coaster ride with never-ending ups and downs, so you have to build enduring willpower and be able to cope with it. You could have 29 bad days in a month (like meeting cancellations, client rejections, employee turnover, cashflow issues, escalations, etc.,) and one good day (eg., employee and client positive testimonial or contract won) that will matter the most“- says Nauman.
Nauman wants to sustain the company’s success by making a difference in Age Tech, helping seniors age in place, achieving hospital at home trends, and helping over 25K companies in North America overcome digital transformation challenges with some very innovative, affordable, and simple-to-use solutions.
