Below are the highlights of the interview:
Tell us about yourself and your story before founding Fitpack.
I was a youth footballer for Manchester United FC. Being around the elite from a very young age had an imprint on me. As a young boy, all I cared about was performance. At age 19, I was awarded a full academic scholarship to attend the University of Michigan, where I became fascinated with Human Health Optimization. I was headhunted twice out of university. Firstly, the UK government and then two tech startups in Geneva, Switzerland. After witnessing how stressed my colleagues were, I felt a calling to found Fitpack.
Tell us more about Fitpack.
Fitpack is a platform that uses AI to support workplace stress management. We are building Fitpack to provide an all-in-one, stress management solution for companies by applying AI to the corporate wellness problem set. Through our technology, employees have the ability to get a health risk assessment, which then provides recommendations based on a wellbeing profile. Recommendations pertain to the management of stress, anxiety, fitness, nutrition, sleep quality, and energy levels and provide data analytics for effective monitoring. Through interactive coaching sessions as part of the product, we are able to help companies solve employee engagement and learning and development challenges pertaining to mental health and work.
Why did you choose to become a healthcare solution expert?
Through my experience of working with white-collar professionals, I realized that I could have a big impact on the industry. I felt there was a huge gap in the market for personal performance through simple health and wellbeing techniques. I have a fantastic network of clinical advisors that have helped shape Fitpack to be of service to the masses.
What are your responsibilities as the founder and CEO of the company?
Fundraising, liaising with shareholders, setting the vision and strategically moving towards it.
What have you failed at and how do you overcome challenges?
Every day is a chance to fail forward. That means trying and learning. My mindset is constant optimization, which naturally will equate to “failure.” But, I don’t see it as a failure, I see it as learning. I either win, or I learn; it’s as simple as that.
Kindly describe how you will specifically know what success looks like for you. And what has been the best recognition that you received as a professional.
What does success look like for us? It is pretty simple. Have we helped large corporations relieve their workplace stress? Yes or no? Simple as that. We focus on stress management because that is our key performance indicator for our organizational success. The more we answer “yes,” the more valuable we will become.
What advice would you give to the next generation of leaders?
Focus on the problem, solve the problem, get feedback to demonstrate that you are solving the problem, then look to expand.
What are your future plans to sustain the company and your success?
We will raise another round of funding this year to build a team around our early success, and we will focus on expanding our customer portfolio. We are focused on making a difference in each organization we work with, so we will stay diligent to ensure we embark on these aspirations.
