Marci Hopkins’ own recovery path from victim of sexual assault to advocate motivated her to spread the message of hope and healing to others. Marci believes in the power of storytelling, and her Wake Up audience learns new strategies for living their best lives every weekend via open, uplifting dialogues with her guests. It all started with a social media discussion show called “Coffee with Marci,” which gave businesses and non-profits a voice in the community. But Marci knew she wanted to do more, so she used her television expertise and developed “Wake Up with Marci.” It’s a program full of motivation, entertainment, and optimism. Marci no longer sees herself as a victim and is filled with joy. She says, “This career path is a result of my desire to share the gift of healing and happiness with others.”
Marci has worked in the entertainment industry her entire life. She rose through the ranks to become the Director of On-Air Promotions for FX Network in Los Angeles. She retired soon after to establish a family, and her life brought her to New Jersey. She wanted to return to what she loved, the entertainment world. At the age of forty, Marci got in front of the camera and achieved success in commercial and indie cinema acting. She took a step back five years ago to begin her alcohol recovery journey. Wake Up With Marci is the product of Marci’s recovery and her genuine desire to give back and empower others to live their happiest lives, as that is her story today.
Wake Up with Marci is a talk show that shares inspiration through stories of hope, interviews with celebrities, self-help, and thought leaders. Wake Up airs on CBS-owned WLNY-TV 10/55 in New York and New Jersey on Saturdays at 10 a.m. Sundays at 5:30 a.m. on CBS Palm Springs, and Sundays at 6:00 a.m. ABC in Idaho Falls and Jackson Hole.
Marci’s plate is always very full as a talk show presenter, creator, and executive producer. She has a crew that assists her, but this is her vision, therefore she has a hand in everything. Every day, she uses social media to connect with her followers and share inspiration; she writes for her show, researches her guests, supervises show production, networks, seeks out guests, creates graphics, and writes her questions, topics, and answers to help educate others as a recovery expert on ABC, NBC, FOX, and CBS. Marci is always studying in order to improve her skills and her capacity to assist others. She asserts, “Education is key and helps me grow and evolve.”
As per Marci, the primary audience of Wake Up with Marci is men and women looking for feel good programming that can change their lives. Her guests share stories of hope, and celebrity inspiration so the viewers know they are not alone and she gives tips and resources to put into action. She states, “Whether you are looking to shift your mindset, find inspiration for mental health and recovery, need help with family life, or anything life throws at you, my guests offer you inspiration and solutions to move towards a happier, more fulfilling life.”
Marci gets up every morning determined to make a difference in the lives of people and her family. She has grown extremely spiritual as a result of her recovery path, and she begins each day by thanking God for a new day, expressing appreciation for her life, meditating, and jumping up and down with energy for the chances that await her, since one never knows what life has in store for them. Marci thinks that each day should be seized and lived with love and appreciation.
Advice for Dreamers
Marci recently finished her book, “Chaos to Clarity: Seeing the Signs and Breaking the Cycles.” This is a memoir/self-help book that expands on her aim of assisting people in living their happiest lives via healing, education, and spirituality.
As an inspiration herself, Marci advises future female visionaries to “go after your dreams, never give up, don’t let others deter you from your mission, listen to your intuition, lead with faith, be kind, be patient, ask for help, move through the fear and learn through failures. “Going after your dreams will present its struggles, but shift the mindset and think of them as gifts because this is where you learn most.”
