Alexandra Lozano: Raising the Bar on Immigration Law
Most Successful Business Women to Watch in 2022
Immigration law is an extremely complex and nuanced field. The United States sees a steady stream of people seeking to live, work, and study inside its borders. Immigration attorneys may assist individuals, families, and companies in navigating the varied and often difficult immigration channels. Other legal concerns, such as family law, criminal law, corporate law, and tax law, may be impacted or intersected by a person’s immigration status. Thus, attorneys working in those areas should be well-versed in immigration law.
Alexandra Lozano is the founder and CEO of Alexandra Lozano Immigration Law, PLLC, the largest humanitarian immigration law firm in the United States. She is also a national award-winning attorney. Alexandra’s business acumen landed her firm on the list of Inc. 5000 Fastest-Growing Private Companies in America. She is the creator of Amiga Lawyers, LLC, a worldwide legal network, and a zealous advocate for immigrants and the injured. Alexandra is dedicated to constantly finding ways to improve her team’s processes to serve their clients better and faster.
“We are more than just a law firm,” says Alexandra. “We are committed to top of-the-line customer service. By leveraging groundbreaking technology, we have transformed the way law firms work in assembling cases and serving clients.”
Alexandra and her firm are dedicated to continually identifying ways to improve, evolve, and innovate. She wants Alexandra Lozano Immigration Law to remain the absolute best immigration law firm in the U.S. and continue to change thousands of lives.
Her Journey to Immigration Law
Alexandra grew up as the grandchild of immigrants and was moved by their immigration stories. When she visited Central America as a teenager, she witnessed tremendous poverty for the first time. After that trip, she realized she wanted to advocate for human rights. She decided that working on behalf of undocumented immigrants is an important fight for human rights in the U.S., a fight she is honored to be a part of.
Alexandra learned the dynamics of immigration law by working for two different immigration law firms before founding her own. When she left those firms, she was already an expert in immigration law, but she knew she had to learn to become an expert in running a business as well. Alexandra says she “earned an informal MBA by reading tons of books about business. I read three to five books a week so I could learn more skills and continue to improve my law firm for the benefit of our clients.”
Alexandra Lozano Immigration Law Firm
The US immigration legal system is considered to be one of the most complex in the world. Even the U.S. Supreme Court has said that the only law more difficult to understand is the U.S. tax law. Gaining legal status in the U.S., whether by obtaining lawful residence (“getting a green card”), getting a permit to work lawfully, or becoming a U.S. citizen, is an incredibly difficult immigration process.
Alexandra Lozano Immigration Law is the country’s largest humanitarian law practice. It is committed to assisting undocumented Latinos, with a focus on the Mexican community. This includes obtaining legal status through humanitarian immigration options, such as the Violence Against Women Act, the U visa for victims of violent crimes, the T visa for survivors of human trafficking, and asylum for people who are afraid to return to their home countries. The immigrant community has faced significant difficulties in acquiring work permits in the U.S. in the last several years. Nevertheless, in 2021, Alexandra Lozano and her team were able to secure more than 1,000 work permits for their clients without them having to leave the country.
“We are experts at what we do and have a world-class team,” says Alexandra. “We understand the intricacies of these very complicated areas of law and are dedicated to providing our clients with life-changing results.”
Committed to The Mission
Alexandra Lozano has been practicing law since 2008, specializing in immigration law. She is fully bilingual in Spanish and English, allowing her to better understand her clients’ needs. Her practice is completely focused on immigration matters, ensuring that she is well-versed in all relevant legislation. Alexandra is incredibly dedicated to the firm and its mission. She believes that this is one of the “secrets” to her firm’s success.
“Our clients, my team, and my family are the most important people in my life.”
Alexandra says she enjoys reading, learning, and trying new things both at work and in her personal life. As a lawyer, businesswoman, mother, and spouse, she is dedicated to constantly improving her knowledge and talents.
While Alexandra has earned several awards and accolades, including a national award for mentoring other attorneys and a distinguished alumna award from her law school, nothing compares to the reward of serving her clients. She observes, “When my clients tell me how their lives have been improved, that is the most important recognition I could ever receive.”
Her Client’s Success Is Her Success
For Alexandra, success is measured by results achieved for clients and their satisfaction with the process – from initial phone call to final documentation. She says, “Our clients are the heartbeat of our firm. We do everything for them. If they are happy and gain results, we are successful. To me, it is that easy.”
Women in the Legal Profession
Alexandra champions female representation in the profession. Her professional mission is to empower female attorneys to pursue their dreams, building successful law practices. Alexandra’s best advice for aspiring female lawyers is to carve out their own path.
“Be committed to your dreams and go after them. Many people, and in particular many men, will tell you why it won’t work, why you aren’t good enough, and how you won’t make it. But if you put your head down, do the work, keep showing up, and are relentless with your dedication to your purpose and your dream, you can do more than you ever thought possible.”
On Becoming the Most Trusted and Technologically Advanced Firm
“We have created a firm people can trust. We fearlessly face any challenge, changing the lives of many immigrants and Latinos every day,” says Alexandra. On her goal to be one of the most technologically advanced law firms in the U.S., she says, “We can leverage technology to serve our clients in ways that we previously could never even imagine.”
Alexandra’s passion and mission-centered approach to lawyering, her professional and well-trained team, and their dedication to their clients have made Alexandra Lozano a businesswoman to watch in 2022.
