Below are highlights of the interview:
Tell us about your journey. Share your background and what did you do before you joined Kentwood Real Estate?
My career in real estate began following my graduation from the University of California, Santa Barbara with the Four Seasons Resort in Carlsbad, CA. I worked directly with the agents executing real estate contracts between the buyers and the resort. Almost immediately I discovered a genuine desire to learn as much as I could about real estate and found great enjoyment supporting the agents I worked with every day.
Over the next few years, my career expanded into various aspects of sales, but my love of real estate and desire to return to this field continued to grow. In 2015, I decided to pursue my dreams and received my real estate license in Missouri. I launched my career working with the top brokerage in our market, Realty Executives Fort Leonard Wood LLC, and in my first two years as an agent, was recognized as the top producing agent within the company. I was so busy working with buyers and sellers that I soon realized I needed to duplicate myself and started my first real estate team. With that support, I was able to more than double my production while at the same time training new agents with the tools they would need to find success in this business. Two years after starting with the brokerage, I was offered the opportunity to take over as the Managing Broker. I continued building my team, worked with buyers and sellers, and began managing the agents in my office, This is when I learned that I am passionate about developing agents and helping them build their business and achieve success. I discovered that I would rather see my agent’s names in the top 20 rankings rather than mine—this gave me a significantly deeper sense of satisfaction and a feeling of success.
Why did you choose to become a managing broker?
Although I truly love working with buyers and sellers and helping families transition to the next phase of their lives, training and developing agents is my true passion. I am a problem-solver, and I genuinely love advising agents and their clients through any challenges that may arise. The Kentwood Cherry Creek agents are some of the very best in real estate and are leaders within our market, and I am privileged to have the opportunity to work with them every day. One can either be a hero or build heroes, and as the Managing Broker I have the opportunity to build heroes every day.
Describe who you are as a person, inside and outside of the workplace.
I thrive on being around other people, and most everyone I know would refer to me as an extrovert. I enjoy working hard and finding opportunities to continue to learn and expand my real estate knowledge. I also enjoy networking, whether for business or my personal life. I am always eager to grow my relationships. More than anything, I love spending time with my two children, travelling and exploring. I am constantly on the go, and I love that! When it comes time to wind down, it is with family and friends, usually gathered around the table over an amazing dinner and a great bottle of wine!
What changes do you wish to bring to society?
I hope to use my position and any influence I have to encourage inclusivity and equality, both in my career and personal life. I have always been passionate about creating opportunities where there is a place for everyone to succeed, and the real estate industry provides the opportune environment for just that. Myself, along with all the leaders within Kentwood, are determined to continue building a diverse, inclusive, and supportive environment for everyone on our team as well as provide opportunities that are available to every person in our community.
What do you consider to be your greatest achievement so far?
Becoming the Managing Broker for the Kentwood Cherry Creek office has undoubtedly been what I would consider my greatest achievement thus far. I have the opportunity to work with the most dynamic, passionate, and professional agents every day. While I am tremendously grateful for this role, I am also humbled daily that I get to lead such an extraordinary team of real estate professionals.
What advice would you give to the emerging leaders and enthusiasts considering a career in real estate?
