Sarah Barnes-Humphrey has spent the last 20 years in logistics and supply chain learning everything she can, and she has recently ventured out on her own to grow the LTSC brand, including a YouTube channel where one can learn from real people discussing real supply chain topics on podcast, live shows, and much more.
“Perseverance led me to become one of the top women in supply chain,” says Sarah Barnes-Humphrey. For 20 years, Sarah worked in the family business. She helped build it and give it life. Along the way, she took risks, she succeeded, she failed, she learned and she grew. Eventually, the family business fell apart, and she was left with nothing. She says, “The plan I’d had for my life, since as far back as I could remember, was over.”
Sarah picked herself up, she dusted herself off, and she went in a new direction. She shares, “I don’t believe in giving up. Bankruptcy. Fear. Loneliness. I took it on – because it wasn’t an option not to. I had to succeed. And I did. I became obsessed with supply chain and the idea that “collaboration is the future of business” and that we can all win by working together.I now run “Let’s Talk Supply Chain (LTSC)” and it is the hottest supply chain podcast on the market. I have found my calling! “

What has been your biggest learning since becoming a host and entrepreneur?
It’s too exhausting and inauthentic to be someone you are not.
How do you motivate people to go the extra mile?
I empower people to be their authentic selves by giving them the space to make their own decisions and be heard. Collaboration is truly the future of business. But without a safe space to share creative freedom and the ability to go that extra mile, collaboration can’t exist.
What gets you up in the morning? What motivates you?
My motivation to get up is the love that I have for what I do! Every day is different. Plus, my dogs. They tend to get restless and get up by 7:30 at the latest.
Kindly describe how you will specifically know what success looks like for you.
Making an impact, experiences and happiness, money will come and go.
What is some of the advice you give to aspiring women leaders?
Keep doing something towards your dreams every day. I’m not to say it will be easy because it will be hard but remember who you are, all the amazing things small and large you have accomplished, be flexible, work hard and take some time for yourself.
Lastly, share your stories, both good and bad, and listen to the stories of other female leaders! I have a podcast series, Women in Supply Chain, so we can empower each other through an honest discussion.
What are your future plans to sustain Let’s Talk Supply Chain’s success?
At LTSC, exclusivity, live shows, and DEI are a part of our future plans. We’re bringing diverse voices to the supply chain stage through another initiative called the Blended Pledge. You can expect the same great information we always bring but coming from some people you’d never expect. We’re excited to show everyone!
