Mara Venieri: An Expert Business & Financial Strategist with Passion for Boosting Business Growth
The 10 Most Successful Women Leaders in Business, 2022
Mara Venieri, Managing Partner at UK Business Consulting, helps businesses to become more profitable, increase their revenue and achieve their financial freedom.
As a Profit Expert she loves business growth mapping and uses numbers to scale hundreds of businesses every year.
MV states: “I believe that as a person and of course as a business it is your obligation to make progress and you can’t grow if you don’t know how. Learning the framework and using the right tools is the strategy you need to achieve your personal and business goals.”
Mara joined UKBC in her early 20s to deep dive into shaping financial models and reshaping businesses’ financial futures. Mara states, “I believe that you can’t be successful if you don’t know your numbers.” At UKBC, the team helps its clients understand their numbers, tries to financially educate them and help them plan their future in a safer and more secure way. She adds, “We are trying to make business a place that everyone loves to be.”
The Beginnings of the Her Journey
Building a small service firm that offered growth, operational and financial strategies was how Mara got started when she was just 21 years old.
The challenge was known: young woman in business. She knew she had to work twice as hard than an older man to gain respect and trust from businesses and earn a market share.
So while trying to achieve this, Mara was working also with clients, by trying to develop a unique service, taking advantage of her strengths and making also her “weakness” an opportunity to scale her business faster.
New technologies and digital growth has taken almost every business strategist to a new era. So Mara and her team have developed a unique method using their expertise in financial models, operational systems, digitalisation and growth strategies in order to become the Midas touch for every business they work with..
A few years later every service was coordinated by an individual dedicated company. Over the last fifteen years, with her group of companies she has helped businesses increase their revenue and their profitability, by building personalized growth strategies, and by providing the tools and the resources to achieve their goals.
With over 100 employees and offices in three countries and their HQ in London, it is a one stop solution for businesses hungry to grow.

Along with the devoted and skilful team, UKBC develops the ideal growth strategy driven by clients’ actual needs and goals. Openly discussing every business problem, any concerns, fears and dreams, brings up great solutions and a quicker execution on meeting their goals.
What makes UKBC and their approach unique? Mara states “Our differentiation point at UKBC is not about us. It’s about what we do differently to help our clients solve their problems and achieve their financial and business goals.”
Mara asserts, “The way we choose to spread the news about the advanced methods, unique mechanisms, and strategies that we appy to help businesses achieve more, is by partnering with our associated company, Capital Media Ventures, which is a marketing performance agency.” She further adds, “Capital Media Ventures is handling all the marketing, promotional activities, paid advertising, and digital strategy. We strongly believe that working with the best team is the key to success.”
According to Mara, UKBC feels very proud every time it sees its clients’ profits rising and achieving their aspirations. She shares, “We often talk about strategy and not about random events.” That’s the reason the company has built a path that leads to success based on our KYN method, aka Know Your Numbers. The triptych of KYN, includes:
- Knowing Your Break-Even Point: It first requires a detailed record of your expenses and income. Right then, it’s easy to calculate the indicators and numbers to be viable (zero point) and then become as profitable as it takes! Understanding the balance sheet and the break even is the key to scaling a business.
- Know Your Employee’s Productivity Rate: the actual cost is not the amount an employee receives. You have to write down the working days excluding annual leaves and any other occasions. Also you need to consider bonus (and you have to), insurance contributions and tax. Knowing the productive time leads to better costing evaluation, higher productivity and great liquidity.
- Know Your Customer Acquisition Cost: the total amount spent on marketing and resources in order to get a new client. It brings up the required investment to hit the sales targets and makes it clear if the business plan is achievable and will be profitable.
After that, you can scale your business easier and faster.
- Remember, you can’t control what you can’t measure.
By taking control of your numbers, you instantly take control of your business and your future. (as a quote)
Advice to Emerging Leaders
“Leadership it’s never about the role, but always about the goal. Leaders aren’t born, they are made. They are made just like anything else, through hard work. That’s the price we’ll have to pay to achieve it.” She cites three ideas that were extremely helpful to her on the path to excellent leadership:
- Lead by Example; “You can’t be everywhere at the same time, training your team or doing the right thing. So, you have to guide others through your behavior and your mentality, instead of your words. Lead by your actions, the way you think, your work ethics, mindset, and the enthusiasm and passion that reflect the love of what you do. Be the change and the example you want to see in your organization and do the things you expect others to do.”
- Don’t Be Afraid to Make Bad Decisions; “Good decisions come from experience, and experience comes from bad decisions. Uncomfortable and difficult situations shape you and take your life to the next level.”
- Be The Hardest Worker in The Room; “Go for the extra mile and don’t stop when you are tired, stop when you are done. Always remember that great things come from hard work. No excuses, no shortcuts and no easy ways. You get what you work for, not what you wish for.”
The Chair of Managing Partner
As a managing partner, a major role is solving problems. Leadership also solves problems. As Colin Powel says, “The day soldiers stop bringing you their problems is the day you stop leading them. They have either lost confidence that you can help them or concluded that you do not care. Either case is a failure of leadership.”
Furthermore, business is all about solving people’s problems at a profit.
“So, I fell in love with the idea that I am a problem solver, or better a solution finder. I have trained my mind to see the difficulties as a challenge and always looking for the opportunity no matter how bad a situation can be.” Mara states.
As an example she adds We doubled our business during the pandemic. In this time of economic uncertainty, we have supported them with certainty. We were able to plan ahead, anticipate bumps in the road, and devise a strategy to deal with both for us and our clients.”
Additionally, Mara tries to think outside the box, alongside with her talented and experienced team, they keep innovating by creating systematizing programmes that help the team members and their clients achieve more in less time.
Mara is hands-on regarding planning, because she believes that without planning even the greater strategy is failing. Mistaking planning for strategy is a common trap. That’s why an hour of planning can save you 10 hours of doing. She and the management team review and work on the plan 2-3 times per day which boosts productivity, reduces lowers and produces better outcomes.
“At the end of the day, I am hoping that my position and my actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more.” Mara comments.
Recognition as a Professional
MV states: “As a professional the best award is the loyalty and the devotion from my team and the trust and companionship of our clients. Our motto is “we grow together”.”
Additionally, Mara won a prize at the Most Influential Business Women Awards earlier this year, and UKBC was recognised as the best consultant for international business growth and London market access.
Heading for Service Expansion
The goal for the next few years is to help their clients in every possible way to grow further and dominate their target market. UKBC and the group are incessantly working to help companies accelerate their business and increase their revenue and their market share.
The management is preparing to grow its business in the USA, beginning with offices in New York, as a top firm in global business strategy and in response to numerous inquiries and business visits. Mara states, “Every success brings us closer to our own vision: to make entrepreneurship easier and more attainable to all.”
