An Initiative that became a Brand

In 1992, Dr. Gino Tutera, and CarolAnn moved to Rancho Mirage, California for him to open the birthing center at Eisenhower hospital. She recalls, “He asked me if I would help him by working in his new medical office.” One day, while I was there, I heard all these loud voices in the waiting room of patients waiting to be seen. I couldn’t figure out what all the noise was about. I went out to talk with them and one told me she was a pilot who was flying all these women from Scottsdale, Az to Rancho Mirage, Ca for pellet therapy. She flew out a variety of women every 3–4 months in her private jet. They were so excited to be there and have their pellets. I had no idea what a pellet was at that time.”  She just knew these women were very delighted to have their hormones.

When the couple came to Rancho Mirage from Kanas City in 1992, Dr. Tutera was soon asked if he wanted to be trained in pellet treatment. Dr. Tutera said, “Sure but what is a pellet?” Soon after Dr. Gino Tutera was instructed on how to insert the pellets, his mentor passed after a round of playing golf.  As he went on to treat the patients he inherited, he devised the personalized dosage system that is still in use today. CarolAnn gradually recognized that there was more to life than merely treating their own patients, and the couple moved to Scottsdale, Arizona in the early 2000s.

Joining the Health Industry and Enjoying Every Moment

CarolAnn didn’t set out to become a health expert, the field chose her. She never thought this was her path to take for work at all. Her background is being an entrepreneur, but she found it so exhilarating to see women come alive again once they had their hormones and their levels were balanced out. Thus, she and her husband started training other providers in how to manage and dose patients using the pellets, which have been in existence since 1937.

According to her, there are many facets to who she is inside and outside of the workplace. She opines, “You might say that not many within the company realize that I have a comedic side to me. At times, my sense of humor takes people off guard, as they normally see me as a very serious person. Yet the longer they stay within the company, they do see my warmth, compassion, and big-heartedness shine through.”

She enjoys reading, walking her dogs, and taking her quiet time very seriously outside of work. She expresses how important family and friends are to her, and how valuable her time with them is. She also adds, “My time in the office is very focused on expansion and I know my team finds that refreshing and exhilarating.” Outside the office, she is practicing on being mindful and becoming more centered through meditation.  That’s how she finds the balance between the two worlds.

SottoPelle®

SottoPelle® is a method of training and educating healthcare providers on the use of pellet hormone replacement therapy.  This method employs the use of an all-natural bio-identical pellet-shaped hormone. Sharing Aspects of Success

Success for her has many facets. She says, “One day it looks like enlarging the company beyond my dreams to the smallest details of developing those deep personal relationships within the company and outside the company with others.” She goes on to say that success comes in various layers and degrees as she grows older and develops. What she considered success years ago when her firm expanded abroad may appear different to her today with the impact of knowing she made a difference in one person’s life by helping them feel like themselves again while aging gracefully.

CarolAnn states, “It’s an exciting field to be in and know that you are helping change the lives of women and men in a positive manner.” She advises all the emerging leaders to learn from the bottom up and gather as much knowledge as they can. She asserts, “Be your own personality and allow your own ideas to shine and take you where you want to go. Don’t be afraid to stand out and glow.”

Intending for Overseas Expansion

According to her, SottoPelle has just recently begun to expand exponentially and grow to worldwide markets, along with bringing more products to market to help people age gracefully. Its most recent development is a new company: Bolster Beauty by SottoPelle with the addition of shampoo and conditioner to enhance the brand’s nutraceutical Hair Repair & Renew. She is continuously exploring new methods to help people improve their lives as they age.

CarolAnn also mentions that SottoPelle is the only company with multiple patents on a pellet dosing site, something she is extremely pleased with since its creation in 2006 and has been regularly improving and polishing it ever since. The organization has expanded its reach to also include dosing for the LGBTQ community.
